Main causes of unrest in Jordan

INTRODUCTION:

The massive upheavals in the Arab World started in January, 2010. Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and eventually Jordan became the hot spots of social unrest in Arab World. This growing turmoil has severely impacted these countries’ economics and lives of people.

UMEMPLOYMENT CAUSED BY THE DEFECTIVE ECONOMICS:

Economically speaking, the per capital income of the Jordan;

is not low at all; yet again there is a high unemployment rate that left many young people without jobs. Flawed economy is the main cause of high unemployment in Jordan; around 30% youth is unemployment there. This country is rich in oil and is earning quite handsome foreign reserves; but unfortunately it (country) has not formulated such laws which could strength the structure of its economy.

CULTURE OF CORRUPTION:

Corruption has been a severe dilemma of Jordan. Not only the civil and military administration of this country is full of corruption but, even rulers themselves have evolved the culture of corruption. The bank balance and other properties of the Jordanian rulers show the volume of their corruption. The general public, especially the youth, became tired of these corrupt rulers and decided to step down them.

LOW SALARIES:

Low salaries are one of the main issues of unrest in Jordan. Resultantly; there is an ever growing gap between poor and rich.

INFLATION:

In April 2013, 6.01 percent inflation rate was recorded in Jordan. Central Bank of Jordan reported this inflation rate.
